An mtproxy carries every session of every account at once, so a dozen sockets are always in flight against it and one of them is almost always retrying. The reducer gave mtproxy facts a raw last-writer-wins path - skipping the freshness rule every other proxy type gets - so any of those sockets failing repainted the shield with its reason. That is the purple handshake colour and the orange stall colour alternating while messages and files keep arriving. An mtproxy relay proof now opens the same fresh-success window, and a terminal failure from a different attempt is shadowed inside it. The attempt that actually proved the relay still reports its own failure immediately, and a newer proxy generation still wins, so a proxy that really dies is still visible - within the window, not sooner. The window is fifteen seconds and the relay proof is reported once per connection, so it cannot cover a long stable connection on its own. While the account is connected the shield now says so directly: there is no text beside the icon in that state, the colour was the whole message, and the message was wrong.
